Kelvin Mak is the Artistic Director of Beyond Dance Theater.  Mak joined the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) in 2013 and was invited by the New Zealand Atamira Dance Company as guest artist in the same year. He joined Ballet Preljocaj-Pavillon Noir in the 2018 -2019 dance season. He was invited as a guest choreographer by the Delattre Dance Company in 2018. Mak received numerous recognitions in the dance field. Acknowledged by the South China Morning Post as an outstanding dancer, Mak was nominated for the award “Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer” for his performance in “ Soledad” at the Hong Kong Dance Award 2016. In 2017, he received “Outstanding Male Dancer” award at the Hong Kong Dance Award 2017 for his performance in “Mother I Am Sorry”. In 2022, Mak received “Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer”award through“Remnants”, which was also nominated for“Outstanding Medium Venue Production” at the 23rd Hong Kong Dance Award.

During his dance career, apart from performing internationally with several companies, he also led Beyond Dance Theater to perform his choreography, including , “Lies in Waiting”, “Echoes Within”, “In The Wind”, “ The Products Of”, “1001 Times”, “Remnants”, “The Last Stone”, “MUM”, "Remnants”, “The Wind Of Empty”, etc. “In The Wind”, “The Products of” and “Lies in Waiting” were invited to touring in mainland China in 2017. Mak aspires to nurture new dance talents, he was invited as tutor of masterclasses and workshops in Europe and mainland China. In 2018, he took up the position of co-producer of Hong Kong Winter Contemporary Dance Camp and producer of “Think Out Of The Box”in 2021.
